This Privacy Policy explains how DayBrain collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our app and website at daybra.in.

DayBrain is operated by George Hancock, trading as DayBrain (we, us, our). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

1. What Data We Collect

When you use DayBrain we collect the following information:

Account information — your name, email address and profile photo, provided via Google Sign-In
Tasks — tasks you create, including titles, notes, priorities and due dates
Journal entries — your daily journal and evening review notes
Mind Dump entries — notes, phrases and facts you save
Non-negotiables — your daily commitments and completion status
Mood data — your daily mood ratings
Google Calendar data — calendar events accessed with your permission (web app only)
Chat history — your planning conversations with the DayBrain AI assistant

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the DayBrain service:

To display your tasks, journal, and planning data across your devices
To power the AI planning assistant — your data is sent to our secure server and then to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses
To sync your data across web and mobile via Google Firebase
To read and write Google Calendar events on your behalf (with your permission)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the service.

3. Third Party Services

DayBrain uses the following third party services to operate:

Google Firebase — authentication, database storage (Firestore), and app hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy
Google Calendar API — to read and write your calendar events (web only, with your explicit consent). Google Privacy Policy
Anthropic — our AI planning assistant is powered by Claude. Your planning conversations and relevant context are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Data is processed in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy

We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore), located in Europe (London region). Access is restricted to your account only — other users cannot access your data.

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Your Anthropic API key is stored as a secure server-side secret and is never exposed to the client application.

5. Google Calendar Access

The web version of DayBrain can connect to your Google Calendar to display events and sync tasks. This requires your explicit permission via Google's OAuth consent flow. You can revoke this access at any time via your Google Account settings.

The Android app does not access Google Calendar.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction — request that inaccurate data is corrected
Deletion — request that your data is deleted. You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at info@daybra.in
Portability — request an export of your data
Objection — object to how we process your data

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

DayBrain is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of DayBrain after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
